Advert Image Specification

This pages details the graphic design parameters of adverts on Myplace.


To get the best effect from the Myplace Advertising facility you should design your advert's graphic appropriately. This article sets out some guidelines to get the best results.



Advert types and image specifications

You can post two types of adverts:

  • Title and image only (larger image)
  • Title, copy and image (smaller image)

The dimensions of your graphic, screen resolution and the device displaying the advert all affect the final display. Please note that the advert will display differently across different pages.

The focal point of the image should be position so that it sits within the dashed area in the center of each template.

Title and image only

For the best effect you should create an image that is 600px x 600px, and make sure that the focus are is at the center of the image. 

Title and image only

For the best effect you should create an image that is minimum 600px wide and minimum 400px high, and make sure that the focus are is at the center of the image. 


This will ensure that the the most interesting part of the image is displayed when the advert is displayed on different devices and screen resolutions.

The focal area is a guideline only. You cannot rely that the area indicated by the dashed area will be completely displayed, especially at the borders.

Allowed images

Please use decorative images only. Images should not be used to communicate any message. 

Accessibility

Please avoid the following images:

  • images of logos
  • images of text
  • functional images
  • images that contain subjects outside the focal area

Given the advert graphic on the right, the following show what portion of an image with dimensions of 600px x 400px may be displayed at the various sizes.

Please keep in mind that this a guide only as the image will resize based on the screen size.

Tile sized advert with copy 

These examples shows how the focal area is kept centered when displayed in an advert at different screen sizes, and the whole image is adjusted to fit within the bounds of the advert format.
