Stream Migration Actions on Myplace

Stream Migration Actions on Myplace

Last updated Jan 27, 2025

As a result of the Classic Stream migration, videos have been moved to staff members' OneDrive folders and a SharePoint document library. The embedded videos on Myplace will stop working after 15 February 2025, when the automatic redirects are no longer available.

Education Technology has released a tool to help with the updating of these embed codes.

Known Issues

If you are having problems you can check our list of known issues for possible solutions.

See our Frequently Asked Questions

If you have issues with authentication rather than a warning that appears on this page, see our Common MS Stream Issues page.

Videos that are using these “old” embed links may now appear as shown below (Image 2)

A warning notice added to a video. The notice reads, this video has been migrated to Stream (on SharePoint). You accessed the video from the Stream (Classic) link, which will expire on February 15, 2025. If you own the content containing the Stream (Classic) link, you will need to update it with the new Stream (on SharePoint) link.

How to fix the migrated videos

To help staff with updating the videos, the Education Technology team have implemented a tool for the TinyMCE editor on Myplace. This is now the default text editor on Myplace. The tool will be available from 14 January 2025. To allow staff to easily find the tool, the TinyMCE will be set as the default editor.

Using the Stream Migration Fix tool

Please refer to this step by step guide on how to use the Stream Migration Fix tool.

Manually updating the embed codes

If you are unable to use the tool, and are comfortable with updating the HTML of the page, you can manually update the embed code of your videos.

Please follow this step by step guide on how to manually update the embed code.

Frequently Asked Questions

This section will be regularly updated with any Frequently Asked Questions and Answers.

I’m getting a “No fix available for this stream embed”

This means that Myplace does not have a record of where the source video may have been migrated to as part of the migration process, and so cannot walk through the update of the embed code.

What should I do if I or a colleague who owns videos in a personal OneDrive space leave the University?

Please ensure that any video content in a personal One Drive space is uploaded to the Learning & Teaching video repository and that the embed code in Myplace is updated before the end of the employment.

What happens to videos migrated to a personal OneDrive when the owner leaves the University?

The embed code for videos in the “Stream Migrated Video“ folder in a personal space will still work for up to six months after they leave (this time will depend on when their account is suspended).

What should I do if I get a “This item might not exist or is no longer available” message?

This is a known issue, see our known issues page for how to address this.
