Inappropriate content on microsoftstream.com

It was discovered that the microsoftstream.com deprecated and had been serving inappropriate content from an unknown 3rd party.

In the interim we have disabled access to embedded videos that referenced this site.

This issue impacts videos that were hosted on the Classic Microsoft Stream platform (which was finally retired on February 15th 2025), and where the embed code to display the video in Myplace has not been updated by content owners.

This issue has been reported and Microsoft and other relevant parties are involved in addressing the underlying issues.

Impact on Migration of Teaching & Learning Videos

As a result of this issue the migration tool for fixing Teaching & Learning videos is disabled.

We hope that this can be re-instated at some point in the future.

Editing content

Access the edit mode of a page with affected content may result in different behaviours depending if you are on-campus (including via VPN) or on a personal internet connection.

On-campus

The affected videos may appear as a grey broken screen, with the migration fix tool option still visible:

In this case you should attempt to use the fix tool as normal, and this will update the video embed code.

Off-campus

Due to the nature of DNS you may find that the malicious site loads in the editor.

If the Migration Fix tool appears please use it to correct the embed code.

Otherwise you may wish to simply delete the incorrect embed.
