External Examiners

VideoThis page provides information about External Examiners and how they relate to Myplace.

Overview

External Examiners are users from outside the University who are certified to provide additional oversight and input to the University & Departments.

Access

External Examiners must be registered via the External Examiners team (external-examiners@strath.ac.uk) in Education Enhancement.

Once approved External Examiners will be issued with a set of credentials (Limited Access Accounts at present) that can be used to gain access to University systems (See Limitations below).

All enquiries enquiries relating to registering External Examiners should be sent to the External Examiners team.

Access Management

Beyond the issuing of access credentials, Departments are responsible for authorising External Examiners for the areas they need to access for their duties, this may include Myplace module sites or other systems.

Limitations

The credentials issued to External Examiners allow access to:

  • Myplace - General access

  • Myplace Module sites as granted & managed by a Department/Faculty

The credentials issued to External Examiners will not typically permit access to:

  • Video content that is hosted on Microsoft Stream, Sharepoint or Teams sites

  • Any service that requires authentication via the University’s Microsoft Azure Authentication process.
