Progress Review - Work Based Learning Advisors (WBLA) Guide

Introduction

Progress Reviews are a crucial activity in an apprentice’s learning journey. They provide a formal opportunity to review an apprentice’s progress towards developing the knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) in the relevant Standard.  Evidencing Progress Reviews is also an essential requirement of our funding. Pebblepad – WBLA Guidance

For progress review, the WBLA is responsible for creating the initial submission. The workflow has been designed so that the WBLA will initiate the process and share the template with the apprentice. Apprentices will have a progress review tab in their existing workbooks and WBLA will have access to a separate progress review workspace.

The WBLA should navigate to the relevant workspace in ATLAS then submissions from the top menu. There will be a list of names of each student with access to the workspace and under “actions” will be a “generate submission” button, this will create a new progress review template. Previous submissions will be able to be viewed via the link in submission status.

Table showing the list of students, one student per row. Table headings are Member name (username), Submission status, and Actions. For each row, the Generate Submission button is located under the Actions heading.

Once the submission has been generated this will open a new page with the progress review template. The WBLA will be able to complete fields marked “To be completed by: University Mentor”. Namely, these fields will be information about the meeting including apprentice name, WBLA name, and Employer mentor name, meeting date etc. Once the fields are completed, “save and release” will then add them to the template shared with the apprentice.

As an example, the Apprentice Name and the Apprentice fields are marked as - To be completed by University Mentor -

Sharing is set to auto submit, the WBLA will not need to individually share the template with anyone.

Should any of the fields need edited after save and release is selected there will be a full audit trail alongside date and time stamps. Selecting “assessor history” will show the date/time of changes and as well as previous comments / edits.

Once the form is shared from the apprentice to the employer all three will be able to make changes only to their relevant fields (E.g. an apprentice cannot complete a field marked to be completed by the employer and visa versa.
