Pebblepad Account Management
PebblePad account management can be challenging because the user accounts are personal and private and stay with the user for the duration of their time at the organisation. They may be full of personal content, as well as course and assessed work, and users ideally want to continue to have access to this content after they leave the organisation. Strathclyde has a licence for 2500 users and any users over and above that mean that there is potential for the organisation to be fined (at a rate of 500 users at a time). In order to mitigate this risk the following account management policy has been identified.
Pebblepad Access
Access to pebblepad is managed entirely through Myplace integration. Users are added automatically if they correspond to a relevant class code and access via a link in Myplace. Users do not have a username and password and cannot access Pebblepad via the direct link. Accounts are only cosidered “active” if they have followed one of the below criteria:
· Has logged in 3 or more times
· Has 3 or more Assets in their store
· Has shared work with ATLAS
· Has shared work with the Web
Account Management Policy
Once accounts are considered active and they will be deleted from the system for the following reasons:
· The student has completed their studies and left the university.
· The student has not logged into Pebblepad in > one calender year
· The student is a particiapant in a class that has not been centrally approved for Pebblepad use
Academic / Voluntary Suspension
If there are students who are in suspension or there is another reason in which they may not log into the system for more than one year. Please notify via pebblepad-help@strath.ac.uk, there is no mechanism in the system that shows which students are in suspension, the team will need to be manually notified for each student. If the team is not notified it is likely that the account will be deleted. Accounts will intially be marked for deletion which will notify the student that in 30 days the account will be purged (permanently deleted).
