1) From the submission settings choose 'Yes' from the 'Require students click submit button' dropdown. The effect of this is to create a 2 stage submission process where the file is uploaded but remains in 'draft' status and can be replaced by an edited submission until a 'Submit' button is pressed, at which point the file is officially submitted and no further editing can take place.
Most commonly this setting is set to 'No'. In this case the students are free to edit the submission right up until the due date. If this setting is set to 'Yes' it's very important to give extremely clear instructions that the 'Submit' button must be pressed in order to finally submit. Using an image may be helpful as it's possible for the 'Submit' button can appear below the screen of the users, requiring them to scroll down to see the submit button.
2) Please see 'Turnitin Assignment Settings' for full details on what these settings do.
3) The 'Grade' settings should default to 'Point' and '100' for maximum grade. Leave these settings as they are, or change them to mirror the image on the right if not.
4) Click 'Save and return to class'.
5) Click on the assignment link as a teacher and you should see something similar to the image on the right.
