Installing RStudio

Please note, before installing RStudio, you must install R. To find instructions on how to install R click this link

1) Go to the following website - https://rstudio.com/ and click the DOWNLOAD button as highlighted in the image on the right for the free version. 

2) Choose the appropriate version from this page and click the link

3) This will download a file to your PC. Navigate to the folder which it has downloaded to and double click the 'RStudio-1.2.5019.exe' file. (please note the numbers are related to the version so the number may change over time as the software is updated. 

4) A pop-up will appear to begin setup. Click Next

5) Unless you have a good reason not to, leave the default install location as it is and click Next

6) Leave the folder identified as RStudio and click Install

7) You will see a progress bar to show you that it's installing

8) When you see the message 'RStudio has been installed on your computer.' Click Finish. 

9) To check that RStudio is working as expected, navigate to the start button for RStudio in your start menu and click it

10) It should start and look something like this 

11) After  type 4+5 and hit return. On the next line  should appear. If it does then RStudio is working as expected. 

12) Click the highlighted icon to open the Environment/History/Connection to open that window

13) When this window is open you are ready to use RStudio.
