Notices are shown under the My notices block. Staff and students can click on a notice to expand it and view the content, or choose to view all notices in the Communication Hub.

From your Myplace class or from the dashboard, you can post a notice from the My notices block.

Choose your target audience.

Step 1 - Go to the Post Notice page
From the My notices block in your class or in the Dashboard, select the Post notice button.
Step 2 - Choose your target audience
The audience of a notice are the people who will receive your message. You can target specific classes, groups, or single students.
If you open the Post Notice page from a class, the class will be the default audience. You can choose a different audience if you want.
Target courses or groups
Select Choose to bring up the “Select Courses“ tool and change the audience.
You can choose to target:
whole classes
one or more groups within a class
one or more groupings within a class
combinations of the above
To select / deselect a target click on the checkbox to the left hand side. You can use the arrows to expand a class and select specific groups or groupings.
To target specific users
If you want to select specific users, you can type in or paste in the Users field any one of the following separated by spaces or commas:
Registration number
DS Username
Email

Step 3 - Write your message
Please add a Subject and the copy under the Send notice section. Please use the Message field to compose the message that you want to send to your audience. Please remember to keep the message concise, and use plain English to ensure that anyone in your audience can understand you.

Step 4 - Add attachments
If you would like to add any attachments to your message, you can the Attachment section to upload your files. The attachments will be displayed in the notice when viewed and email to the students.

Please keep your attachment file size to a minimum as most email systems restrict the size of attachments that can be sent and received. Please use an alternative method to distribute large files. |
Step 5 - Set your notification preferences for the message
By default, notices are sent to all the students in your audience. If you want to also include other roles, for example all the tutors in the audience, you can select them under the Additional Notifications section.
You can not exclude students form a notice. If you need to send a message only to staff, please use a different channel.
Copy me in
If you want to receive a copy of the notice, please select “Copy me in”.
Send as me
By default, notices are sent by Myplace, and students are not able to reply. If you want to give students the ability to reply, you can select “Send as me” to use your email address as the ender.
Step 6 - Preview your message and send
You can select the Preview button to see what the notification will look like when viewed in Myplace.
Use the Send button to submit the notice. The notice will appear straight away in Myplace and be queued for delivery via email.
