Grade item

Warning, the grade item is hidden in the gradebook. We will show it automatically when you release any marks.

If the tool displays a warning icon indicating that the grade item is hidden in the gradebook, it means that either the marks have not yet been released or that the grade item was hidden again after release. If all other checks are passing, you can go to the gradebook and make the item visible.

Course gradebook

The course gradebook is hidden. Students will only be able to see their grades in the activity.

If the tool shows a warning icon telling you that the gradebook is hidden, your students will only be able to see their grades in the activity submission page but not in the gradebook.

The gradebook visibility is set in the site settings and applies to the entire gradebook. Changing this setting will make the gradebook available to students and reveal all visible grade items.

Anonymous marking

If anonymous marking is enabled, it’s possible that identities for anonymous marking have not been revealed. In this case, the tool will prevent you from releasing any marks and accessing any other release type. Please follow the instructions displayed to lift anonymous marking.

Under the heading missing conditions for marks release, the tool shows Anonymous submissions are enabled and gives guidance to change that.

Activity visibility

If the activity is hidden, students are not able to see their grade and feedback. In this case, the tool will prevent you from accessing any other release mode. Please follow the instructions provided to change the visibility of the activity.

Changing the visibility of an activity to hidden also sets the grade item to hidden.

Under the Missing conditions for marks release heading, the tool displays the message Hidden activity, with the instructions to change the visibility.

Hidden grade category

If a grade category is hidden, all grade items within the category are also hidden to students. In this case, the tool will prevent you from accessing any other release type. Please follow the instructions provided to change the visibility of the grade category.

Changing the visibility of a grade category will impact all grade items within.

Under the Missing conditions for marks release heading, the tool shows the message Hidden grade category and the instructions to change that.
