Release marks and feedback tool
In Myplace, the “Release marks and feedback“ tool enables you to easily release marks and feedback, as well as troubleshoot the visibility of grades.
The tool is available to all staff who have permission to edit grades in the gradebook.
Why we created this tool
Releasing marks and feedback in Moodle requires several settings to be configured correctly. These can involve a combination of configurations in the marking workflow, anonymous marking, activity settings, and gradebook setup.
The Myplace support team regularly receives queries from colleagues who are unsure whether students can see their grades or simply want to make sure that they have done the right thing. Additionally, we identified a gap in reporting highlighting the need for recording release data.
With the help of colleagues across the institution, the Education Technology team created the “Release marks and feedback“ tool to assist staff with releasing marks and feedback with the press of a button, troubleshooting, and reporting.

Known accessibility issues
Upon selecting the release mode, the page reloads. We do warn users in the help text associated with the control, but we are aware that this is not the best experience.
The “Show more“ link within student and group listings causes the page to lose focus when navigating using VoiceOver and Safari.
