Browser scrolling behaviour impact on the gradebook
When the gradebook is in edit mode, you need to click away to de-activate a cell you have just edited to prevent, in some cases, that the mark is unintentionally changed by using the mouse wheel or the track pad to scroll the page. This is unfortunately how your web browser (e.g. Chrome, Edge, Safari) interacts with numerical cells, such as those in the Myplace gradebook.
The following guidance demonstrates the issue, and how to prevent marks being unintentionally changed through scrolling behaviour.
Video demonstration
This video demonstration shows the issue when scrolling within the gradebook. This will only happen when editing is switched on in the gradebook and a cell is active, which highlights the cell with a blue border. In this specific example, an active cell containing a mark of 47, is changed to a mark of 49, simply by scrolling the mouse wheel. The video also demonstrates that by clicking away from the active cell, it de-activates it (removes the blue border) and prevents the mark being changed unintentionally. The mouse wheel also scrolls the page at the same time so it may not be obvious that the mark has changed. A track pad provides a similar outcome.

Instructions
Visit your module gradebook.
Select Turn editing on to allow you to edit marks directly in the gradebook.
Select the cell you would like to enter/update a mark, this will highlight it in blue.
Enter or edit a mark.
Select another area of the gradebook, not another cell, in order to de-activate the cell you were editing. This will remove the blue highlight from around the cell and prevent the mark from changing when you scroll up and down the page.
Select Save changes to save any changes you have made directly in the gradebook.
