How to engage with Convergence MVP 1 & MVP 2

This user guide is for users of Myplace FlexEd and Myplace Corp who have been selected to trial the Convergence Minimum Viable Products 1 and 2 (MVP 1 and MVP 2) on Myplace Demo.

Each user will be able to access at least one of their Myplace FlexEd or Myplace Corp sites which have been migrated to our Myplace Demo service, where some basic customisation of your sites has been undertaken. This will allow you to:

  • switch on Edit Mode to allow you to edit your site

  • familiarise yourself with the change in location for the aspects accessed via the Administration block

  • use the course index (sticky left hand menu) for site navigation

  • familiarise yourself with the block drawer

  • edit the course banner (which is not an available feature currently in Myplace FlexEd and is provisioned differently in Myplace Corp)

  • switch and customise between the list or tiles activity layout.

Edit Mode Instructions

To edit your site, you will first need to turn Edit Mode on.

  1. Locate the Edit mode toggle in the top right hand side of the site navigation.

  2. Select the toggle to turn Edit mode on.

  3. Selecting the toggle again will turn Edit mode off.

Course Navigation Menu Instructions

  1. On the course homepage, the site Settings, Participants, Grades and Activities are all selectable from the main menu.

  2. Selecting More provides access to other key aspects of the site such as the question bank, reports and course reuse activities.

The course navigation menu is located immediately below the course banner in the site.

Enabling Site Banner Instructions

Course banners are enabled via your site’s Settings. You can find this in the Course navigation menu.

  1. Select Settings in the Course navigation menu.

  2. First, you should add an image to the Course image setting to be used as the banner image. Either drag and drop an appropriate image on to the control, or use the icon to open the file selector to upload one.

The image picker can accept GIF, JPEG, PNG, and SVG file types.

We recommend a landscape image at least 1024 pixels wide. The banner will focus on the “center” of the image, and scale it to fit the width of the banner.

We do not recommend including any textual elements in your course image.

  1. In the Course banner settings, check the Display Course Banner checkbox.

  2. If required, add any text to the Container box. Any text entered here will appear in the Container location of the Course Banner.

  3. If required, add any text to the Programme Name. Any text entered here will appear in the Programme Name location of the Course Banner

  4. If required, you can choose to hide the shortname. If box is checked, the displayed Course Name will not include the Course’s Short name value.

  5. Save the changes.

Currently, Course Banners are cached for performance reasons, both in Myplace Demo and in your web browser, so you may not see the changes immediately.

You can normally press Shift and you web browser’s refresh button to do a fresh load from Myplace Demo to see any changes.
