First, do your film, upload it and let Stream generate the captions automatically.

When they eventually make their appearance:

  • Click the ^ arrow next to My content and then select videos.

  • Select the relevant video.

  • Once on the video’s page hover over three little dots for more options.

  • Then select ‘update video details’

  • All going well you should see:

  • Then click on the ‘Download file’.

Note: You might need to switch the Autogenerate captions box off to see the download caption file option.

  • Make sure you know what folder you are downloading to or select ‘Show in folder’ when Windows has downloaded it.

Note: Your PC won't recognise the .vtt file format they are in but if you right-click on it and tell the PC to open it with notepad you can edit it. If that is problematic simply open notepad and navigate to the file you downloaded (here make sure Notepad is looking for ‘all files’ rather than just text files otherwise you wont actually see the caption file).

  • You should then have a Notepad file like this:

  • Now you can just go through each event and edit any text bit you want, and just save when done.
  • You should now be able to go back to the Update Video page on Stream and upload the caption file again.
