Microsoft has retired Stream (Classic).

Please upload any new videos to the Stream (on Sharepoint) Learning & Teaching Video Repository. Please follow these instructions on how to embed videos hosted on Stream (on Sharepoint).

Upload a video and let Stream generate the captions automatically

.When they eventually make their appearance

(On the Options tab, set Autogenerate captions to On).

Follow the bellow steps to edit the captions:

  • Click the ^ arrow next to My content and then select videos.

    Find the

    relevant

    video you want to edit.

  • Once on the video’s page hover over three little dots and click for more

    options

    actions.

  • Then select 

     Select ‘update video details’

    Then you should be able to see this page:

  • Then click

    Click on the ‘Download file’.

Note: You  If the Download file option isn't visible, you might need to switch uncheck the Autogenerate captions box off to see the download caption file option.

Make sure you know what folder you are downloading to or Image Added

  • After downloading the file, select ‘Show in folder’

    when Windows has downloaded it

    to make sure where your download is saved.

Note:

Your PC won't recognise the .vtt file format they are in but if you

 The downloaded file is in .vtt format which is not a recognisable format. In order to open your file by Notepad, right-click on

it and tell the PC to open it with notepad you can edit it. If that is problematic simply open notepad and

the file and select open with. Then choose Notepad from the application list.

Another way is to click on the Notepad icon to open the program. Then navigate to the file you downloaded

  • You should then have a Notepad file like this:

  • Now you can

  • go through each event and edit

any text bit you want, and just save when done.
  • You should now be able to go

    the text.

  • After editing is done, save the Notepad.

  • The last step is to go back to the Update Video page on Stream and select Upload a caption file in order to upload the updated caption

    file again

    to your video.
