This page outlines the default configuration of a Myplace class, as it would be set up automatically.
Table of Contents |
---|
When are classes created?
All classcodes have an effective start and date date, class-sites are automatically created on Myplace in relation to the academic session of the effective start.
If a classcode has an effective start date of September 2020, it would be running in the 2020-21 academic session.
Tip |
---|
Future academic sessions for Myplace only become available after the rollover in June. No class sites for a future academic session are automatically created until this happens. |
If a classcode is created during an academic year (say 19/20), the the corresponding class-site will be created on the current academic year of Myplace the following morning (approximatley 8am).
Tip |
---|
When a class-site is created it will be created so that student users may not access it. This allows staff the opportunity to create the content of the site. |
Settings
When the class is created the following setttings are configured. These can be seen via the Class Administration > Edit Settings menu option.
Name | Description | Notes |
---|---|---|
Name | The classcode & fullname for the classcode as defined in the class catalogue | |
Short Name | The classcode only as defined in the class catalogue | |
ID number | A unique identifier for the class code and academic session. This associates the classcode with this specific Myplace Class-site. | This is in the form WWXXX-1-1ACADYY-ZZ, where WWXXX is the classcode and YY-ZZ is the academic year (e.g. 19-20) |
Enrolments
When a class-site is created Myplace will set up enrolments automatically, so that the class-site will have both the students registered for the class code and the staff assigned to roles / responsibilities for the class code.
By default a Current Class, Current Session enrolment method is added to the class-site. This uses the IDNumber in the class settings to fetch the list of students and staff.
Converting a Manually Created Class (single class code)
Where a class-site has been manually created follow the following check list to ensure that it behaves like an automatically created class-site associated with a class code
- Ensure the Rollover Over action on the Quick Settings block on the class-site page is set to Rollover. (You cannot change this once step 2 is set).
- Check the ID Number is set on the Class Administration > Edit Settings form, and matches the correct format and details.
- Ensure that there is an Current Class, Current Session enrolment method listed in the Enrolment Methods page.
Converting a Manually Created Class (multiple class code)
Where a class-site has been manually created follow the following check list to ensure that it behaves like an automatically created class-site associated with more than one class code.
- Ensure the Rollover Over action on the Quick Settings block on the class-site page is set to Rollover. (You cannot change this once step 2 is set).
- Ensure that the name of the class accurately reflects the classcodes associated with the class, on the Class Administration > Edit Settings form
- Check that all of the associated class codes are listed in the Shortname on the Class Administration > Edit Settings form
- Check the ID Number is set on the Class Administration > Edit Settings form is empty
- Ensure that there is a Any Class, Any Session enrolment method added for each associated class code.
- Disable (or, optionally, remove) any Current Class, Current Session enrolment methods (there should only be one and it should be listed as Misconfigured instance, as the class-code has been removed from the Idnumber In Step 4).
